Cards with Handmade Heartfelt Creations Flowers

Heartfelt Creations makes a lot of stamps that can be used to make 3D flowers. The ones I used on this card are from their Oakberry Lane line. The decorative edge on the card was made using one of their dies. The paper inside the card was from a pack of Bo Bunny paper from Tuesday Morning.

This is another example of the hand shaped Oakberry flowers. I used a Silhouette file for the background, and although it is far from obvious in the photo, the center section of white cardstock is embossed.

This card is probably the one that I will use, along with the hot air balloon box card for the intermediate card making activity. Although I have the flower shaping mold from Heartfelt Creations, I am going to teach them how to make the handmade flowers. I needed an easy and fast card to attach it to. I figure that the box card will take awhile to make, so I needed a quicker card project that still would teach them (hopefully) something new in shaping the 3D flowers.

Valentine Cards

I made a couple of Valentine cards as possible projects for the card making activity, but after making them, I remembered that one of the gals who is coming is a recent widow. She doesn't need any reminders that her sweetheart isn't around to receive a handmade Valentine.

The first one is intended to leave on someone's door. It was a combination of Silhouette Design Store files:

This next one I will give to my sweet husband:

I adapted an idea that I saw on Pinterest for this card. The rose is a stamp by Heartfelt Creations. I think the embossing folders I used were both Cuttlebug folders.

Z Cards with Heartfelt Creations Stamps

Z Cards are a type of box card. The ones I've seen have the box on the bottom of the Z Card. However, I had these cute Heartfelt Creations "Sugar Hollow" owl stamps that I wanted to use, and one of them is a swing. I put the box on top so that I could have my little owl swinging from it.

Then, of course, I had to try to make one of the more traditional Z Cards. I used Heartfelt Creations Monkeying Around stamps for this next one.

Just FYI, both the owl and monkey stamp sets were discontinued, so they are no longer available. Also, just for the record, I have no affiliation with Heartfelt Creations. They just happen to be my favorite stamp company.

The papers I used are ones I found at Tuesday Morning awhile ago.

Get Well Box Card

This is a box card was actually two different files. The original box card bed had a hippo patient. It was cute, but I wanted a teddy bear. I simply adapted the bear to take the place of the hippo. The original get well bed box card was designed by Lori Whitlock. I don't remember who designed the teddy bear.

Graphic 45 Safari Cards

Masculine papers can be hard to find, but the Graphic 45 Safari line lends itself very nicely to making cards for guys. I found papers at Tuesday Morning awhile back. I actually bought them with Disney World Safari scrapbook pages in mind. These were all simple, easy cards.

Graphic 45 Cafe Parisienne Cards

In trying to figure out what cards to do as projects for my upcoming card making activities, I made a variety of cards. I had found some Graphic 45 papers from the Cafe Parisienne line and played around with them. I decided not to use this first one for the activity. The second one I may use as one of the projects for the experienced card users.

The two in the photo below are called "Impossible Cards." It's an easy card to make, just looks like it shouldn't be the way it is. The hardest part of making the card (for me) was deciding which papers to use for each section. I found the pattern and instructions on the internet with a Google search.

Card Making for Beginners

I decided to host a card making activity for the gals at church who were interested. About a dozen gals said they would be. After a poll, I realized that some were beginners, and some were experienced, so I decided to have two activities, starting with a beginner's "class" where we would make the following 3 cards:

I wanted cards that wouldn't be too difficult, but wouldn't be too simple, either.  I wanted something that would make them interested in continuing to make cards on their own.

The second class will probably be the following box card:

Box cards are usually a big hit for those who haven't made them before. It's fun to make dimensional cards that fold flat and can be mailed.

All of the above cards had to be made with papers that I had in my stash, since I no longer live near a scrapbook store. I just used scraps for the snowman card.

I have been on a card making kick. There will be more pictures to come.

2019Jan20 Moon Eclipse

This is one of the best shots I got of tonight's eclipse. Considering that I used my mailbox to steady my camera rather than a tripod, I'm pretty happy with it. I also used a 200 mm zoom lens.
