Get Well Box Card

This is a box card was actually two different files. The original box card bed had a hippo patient. It was cute, but I wanted a teddy bear. I simply adapted the bear to take the place of the hippo. The original get well bed box card was designed by Lori Whitlock. I don't remember who designed the teddy bear.

Graphic 45 Safari Cards

Masculine papers can be hard to find, but the Graphic 45 Safari line lends itself very nicely to making cards for guys. I found papers at Tuesday Morning awhile back. I actually bought them with Disney World Safari scrapbook pages in mind. These were all simple, easy cards.

Graphic 45 Cafe Parisienne Cards

In trying to figure out what cards to do as projects for my upcoming card making activities, I made a variety of cards. I had found some Graphic 45 papers from the Cafe Parisienne line and played around with them. I decided not to use this first one for the activity. The second one I may use as one of the projects for the experienced card users.

The two in the photo below are called "Impossible Cards." It's an easy card to make, just looks like it shouldn't be the way it is. The hardest part of making the card (for me) was deciding which papers to use for each section. I found the pattern and instructions on the internet with a Google search.

Card Making for Beginners

I decided to host a card making activity for the gals at church who were interested. About a dozen gals said they would be. After a poll, I realized that some were beginners, and some were experienced, so I decided to have two activities, starting with a beginner's "class" where we would make the following 3 cards:

I wanted cards that wouldn't be too difficult, but wouldn't be too simple, either.  I wanted something that would make them interested in continuing to make cards on their own.

The second class will probably be the following box card:

Box cards are usually a big hit for those who haven't made them before. It's fun to make dimensional cards that fold flat and can be mailed.

All of the above cards had to be made with papers that I had in my stash, since I no longer live near a scrapbook store. I just used scraps for the snowman card.

I have been on a card making kick. There will be more pictures to come.

2019Jan20 Moon Eclipse

This is one of the best shots I got of tonight's eclipse. Considering that I used my mailbox to steady my camera rather than a tripod, I'm pretty happy with it. I also used a 200 mm zoom lens.

No Soliciting Sign

I've been intending to make a No Soliciting sign for ages. Some really obnoxious solicitors got me to finally do it.  The sign is a combination of a few Silhouette Design Store cutting files, and some of my own creation, to suit my personality.

Christmas Tiles

In Relief Society (the women's group at Church) we added the above vinyl designs onto boards. They had shown the project in our Sunday church meetings. I basically measured the board, went and bought a tile the right size, and took that with me the night we made them. I didn't want a painted board. I was very happy with the results.

Then I went home and searched among the cutting files that I had bought, and I found the same nativity cutting file, minus the phrase. I found another cutting file with the same phrase, but in a different font.

My husband and I went to see my daughter, my youngest son, and their spouses. While there, I used my daughter's cutter, my husband's laptop, and the nativity file on a flash drive and made a few tiles for family.

I decided that I didn't want the smaller stars to have just 4 points, so I took the center of the large star and duplicated it. I liked the final result better than the original. Apparently I did not take a picture before I flew home. I had to ask my daughter to send me a photo. It's not taken quite straight on, but you can still see the differences a bit.
