Dallas Arboretum Sep2019 Layout

I haven't scrapbooked for the last two and a half years. I've missed it, but somewhere along the way, I lost steam. Card making was quicker and easier, and it let me still craft while being a caregiver. I've wanted to get back to scrapbooking for a long time, but I just couldn't seem to get going. This morning, I decided that today would be a scrapbook morning no matter what, and no excuses. I had photos that I had already chosen possible papers for making a layout. They have been waiting a very long time. I'm not even sure how long. That seemed the simplest thing to start with, since I'd already chosen papers. I've always been a slow scrapbooker, but this layout came together quickly. I got it done in only about a couple of hours (for me, that is warp speed).

I think the papers are from an older BoBunny collection. I used Queen & Co. dies to make the banner, pumpkins, and leaves. Simple. Quick (for me). And it felt so good to scrapbook and actually get a layout made from start to finish. I know it isn't trendy by today's scrapbooking standards, but it's my style, and I'm happy with the layout, so no one else's opinion matters.

 

 

Simple Card with Queen Co. Dies and Little Yellow Bicycle Vintage Summer

Little Yellow Bicycle was one of my favorite paper companies. I was very sad when they went out of business. I used their Vintage Summer papers and some Foundation dies from Queen & Co. for this simple card. I needed to make multiple cards, and this was an easy one.

KB Bam Box Instant Pop Up Birthday Card

I really enjoyed Karen Burniston's Live video on the Card Making Summit, where she showed how to create a Bam Box card. I ordered the die sets that she used as a result. I loved the concept of the instant pop up, since it used a similar technique to the 3D Instant Pop Up House that I posted recently.

This card still needs the signature panel on the right, but I am posting the image as is.

Pop Up Birthday Card with Karen Burniston dies & Heartfelt Creations papers

After watching the recent Card Making Summit Live Video with Karen Burniston, I decided to get out my Karen Burniston dies and make a pop up birthday card. I'm behind on birthday cards for family members.

I used the Heartfelt Creations papers from their Sugarspun collection.  I used the Karen Burniston Spinner Square dies to make the mechanism.

Valentine Card 2023

While browsing Silhouette Design Store cutting files, I saw a simple layered card design for sale. I have a subscription and buy just about any design that I like, but this one looked like a card that had been made from a sketch using Queen & Co. Foundation dies. It wasn't, but I saw no reason to buy a card design that I could just as easily make with dies that I already own. I used the design as I would have used any card sketch. On the Silhouette version of the card, instead of the envelope accent, they used 3 hearts. Other than that, the card is essentially the same. The stamped phrase was from their Crafty Concessions Add On Kit. I used Queen & Co. papers.

Queen & Co. January 2023 Sketch Challenge

Queen & Co. released new sketches earlier this month, along with a challenge to use one of them, or an older sketch, to create and share a card based on the chosen sketch. I went with Sketch #116, but I used "peasant paper" (non-Queen brand paper as nicknamed by other Queen & Co. fans, not sure who started it).  I thought I might make multiple cards, and I wouldn't have enough of the Queen & Co. paper to do multiple cards. The papers that I used were bought quite awhile ago at Tuesday Morning. The pink plaid is from Rocky Mountain Scrapbook Co., the teal ombre is from Pink Paislee (the B side), and the remaining papers were from a sheet of cut aparts by Simple Stories. The tiny hearts paper was the B side, the other designs were cut from the various cut apart cards of the A side of that paper. I used no plain card stock. I embellished with Queen & Co. enamel dots, and I used the Foundation dies suggested on the sketch.

Scrappy Tails A7 Storefront Pop Up Card

Years ago, I received a card that was like a box card, which I knew how to make, but which popped up instantly as soon as I took it out of the envelope. I never did figure out how to make it, since I would have had to destroy the card to see how it was done, and it was too nice to tear apart.

When I saw this design from Scrappy Tails, I was delighted. My daughter came to visit for Christmas and New Year's, so we each made a house. The one on the right is hers, and the one on the left is mine.

I didn't have the right sized rubber bands, and I couldn't find any to buy that were 4 inches (diameter), so when I didn't hear back from Scrappy Tails about where to find the necessary rubber bands, we improvised by using thin elastic cord which we cut and tied the right length, to make our own. It worked well, possibly better than the rubber bands.

We also used a couple of dies from other house card die sets. The bird and bird bath are from another set. Also, I used my Silhouette to cut the topiaries on the back. The house on the left in both photos is mine, the one on the right is my daughter's version.
